MARY KAY HUNGATE
Richwoods High School 1984 girls varsity basketball team, coached by Mary Kay Hungate, has been ranked first in the nation by USA Today. Their record thus far for 1984 is 9 wins and no losses. In 1983 the Richwoods Lady Knights won the Class AA State Championship and ended a perfect season at 32-0. They were ranked second in the nation in 1983 by USA Today.

Mary Kay's record at Richwoods for her first five years, prior to the 1984 season, is 132 wins and 11 losses. Her Richwoods teams have been the winners of four conference championships. The team reached the State quarter finals in 1980, won second place in 1982 and the State Championship in 1983. Mary Kay was named Illinois Class AA Coach of the Year by the basketball division of Illinois Coaches Association for Girls' Sports for 1981 and 1983.

Mary Kay has eight girls on full ride scholarships at Division I schools. She is a graduate of Western Illinois University and currently completing a Master's Degree in Athletic Administration at Illinois State University.
