Tri-County Sports Award
1999 Tri-County Male Athlete of the Year
TIM BROE
Tim Broe, an eight time All-American during his four year career at the University of Alabama, has won more awards than any previous Alabama distance runner.

Consider these 1999 accomplishments: Penn Relays 5000 meter champion; Southeastern Conference 5000 meter champion; Alabama Relays 3000 meter Steeplechase champion; Sea-Ray 1500 meter champion: NCAA Outdoor Track - 3rd place finish.

Broe also broke a 33-year Alabama school record in the one mile run with a time of 3:59.29. It was the first time a local runner broke the 4:00 mile. His coach calls Tim, "a national leader in a variety of venues."

Tim Broe has captained the track & field and the cross country teams at Alabama for the past two years while also receiving eight SEC and NCAA academic awards. Tim is a two time winner of this award, having won previously in 1995 after two consecutive IHSA cross country titles and an outstanding prep career at East Peoria High.
